SEC’s Impressive Women’s Swimming and Diving Winning History
A three-time consecutive Southeastern Conference (SEC) Academic Honor Roll member earned through a GPA of 3.7, Emma Whitner is part of the diving team at the University of Florida (UF). The team competes at the highest NCAA Division I level. Emma Whitner achieved her personal best, silver medal platform finish during the 2020 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships.
The SEC’s women’s swimming and diving programs have an impressive winning history. In 1982, UF hosted the inaugural NCAA Championship and won its first national title. Standouts included Tracy Caulkins, who won five individual swimming events. Megan Neyer, meanwhile, prevailed in diving, winning the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
From 1999 until 2007, two SEC schools, the University of Georgia and Auburn, held successive reigns on the NCCA Championships. In 2010, the UF women’s swimming and diving team once again emerged as the champion. Then, Georgia went on to win championships in the following years. SEC schools’ women’s swimming and diving programs have so far amassed a total of 14 NCAA championships.
